Challenger was required to deliver transport infrastructure cleaning services across major rail facilities while maintaining strict safety and operational standards within live rail environments. The scale and complexity of the network presented several operational challenges:

The solution
Structured workforce delivery and rapid response capability
Challenger designed and implemented a structured workforce model designed for large-scale transport infrastructure cleaning operations. Major operational sites, including one of Australia’s busiest train stations, are supported by large on-site cleaning teams working across multiple shifts. Challenger currently deploys more than 125 cleaners daily at a single station, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in an extremely high-traffic public environment.
Beyond permanent station teams, Challenger also provides network-wide labour relief services across metropolitan, regional and country rail locations. A large pool of RIW-accredited personnel allows the business to deploy trained staff quickly across live rail environments when additional support is required. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this mobilisation capability became particularly important. Challenger rapidly deployed hundreds of personnel across multiple stations and rail facilities to support asset sanitisation and public safety initiatives. Centralised workforce planning and real-time coordination ensured teams could be mobilised quickly while maintaining strict operational control.
